HEY YOU!...YEAH YOU!!

I just wanted to give anyone new to this blog an update on my plans and goals for getting fit & healthy.
My name is Iain MacMillan, I'm 26 years old and i decided to start this blog mainly as a way of staying accountable and hopefully this also would be one way to not only blog but keep me on track towards the goals I have.
I have been struggling with my weight since I can remember, since i was a kid.
I have reached goals and been healthy during the years but always seem to put the weight back on and I believe it had a lot to do with dieting. Most people know these days, dieting doesn't work because as soon as you come off the diet you put the weight back on.
I've done diets like Atkins & weight watchers which really consist of you eating a certain way but not being able to sustain it as a life style.
So as of last year I've changed the way I eat, it's nothing spectacular or revolutionary it's just about making healthy lifestyle choices and that's what I've done, along with constant exercise I've lost 50lbs, I started at 276.5lbs about 1 1/2 years ago and as of about a month ago got down to 228.5lbs but recently I stopped working out and my eating was way off, I could say I have an excuse for that but really a bad situation in life shouldn't stop you from working out and then begin to hit up the Wendy's drive-thru on the way back from work! My weight began to climb so I decided to do a 24 day cleanse, well its kinda like a reboot to get me started again on eating right. so 14 days Raw/vegetarian and then 10 day juicing cleanse which will lead back in to a healthy and balanced lifestyle, with exercise. It's based off a documentary I watched on Netflix called "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead"and basically it's about a guy who uses juicing as a way to rid himself of bad eating habits and to begin his weight loss journey.
So thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you'll save this in your bookmarks and follow the last bit of my Journey to get fit.

Sick

Yeah, today I didn't feel well & I won't go into the details but found out eating this way can cause some side effects. Guess it has to do with your body just getting flushed of all it's toxins etc

Anyway enough of that, I went to the pub last night with a few people & as I walked in the waitress recognized me & came over and complimented me on my weight loss & said I looked good since last time she saw me, haha. I'll take that compliment! She said she's been on a health kick too & has cut out the Gluten. I told her there's nothing wrong with doing that and I've only heard good things about cutting grains out of your diet.
So only a few days left of the Vegetarian way of eating then I'm Juicing for 10 days straight. I'll be honest i'm not looking forward to it, but I know it's what I want to do & what my body really needs to jump start my planned way of eating.
I'm gonna use this 10 days to really focus on me & things I need for my life, recently my heads been spinning & I've heard detoxes and sometimes different types of fasting (which is not what I'm doing) can help your focus & help gather thoughts.
I dunno we'll see maybe I can use this 10 days to really focus on some personal things and maybe tweek the direction of my life a little bit. If that makes sense.

Grey Cup Shin Dig

Saturday I went to the Dentist....fun right? then came home and made a juice. Later on I had a friend came over around 730 and he helped me make a vegetable curry which was DA BOMB, I still have to say Curry is simple to make but the flavoUrs in a curry are amazing!
Then we watched a movie...half way through i got a call from a friend (spencanator) asking if I wanted to hit the pool hall... I gave him a big hell yeah, so we booted down there and ended up playing a few hours of pool....I grabbed a drink at the bar, a glass of water that is and that concluded the night.
Sunday came around fast and I hit up the Starbucks with my sisters and a friend after Bible study and I ended up  buying something, yes again forgetting I'm not drinking caffeine!! So i ended up dumping the coffee out, what a waste.
After that I had to rush home to get the Christmas lights up before the parents got back from their little holiday and then I had 4 or 5 people come over for the Grey Cup and then I was surrounded by temptation, beer, wings, candy, chips & a whack load of Nanaimo bars. I tackled those temptations with a large bowl of Curry from the night before and an and an onslaught of Almonds & Water.
I won! Oh and I weighed in this morning and lost 3.2lbs with just diet change, I can't wait to see the results once I have my diet sorted and I'm working out, I'll finally reach my goal weight of 200lbs!

NINE INCH VEGGIES

Well Thursday I did no food prep...none....nada...nil....zero.....zilch....zip...sweet FA...diddly squat. I spent four hours in traffic (yes I said 4!!!!) on the way to work due to a complete closure of the highway, so with no food prep I was starving by the time i got to work.
I found a juicing place right beside the hospital I'm working at and the sweet lady whipped me up a 20oz Juice in no time.
For lunch I brought a can of Organic Vegetable Chilli....does that count as food prep? Probably not.

Once I got home from work I had made plans to go see NIN (Nine Inch Nails) a band I listened to a lot in Scotland so I was excited. I hadn't heard any of their new stuff lately so was excited for that.
So me and a few people had decided to have dinner downtown at a place called Moxies, due to my veggie week I ordered a salad with no chicken and extra dates! Haha extra dates, yes everyone did laugh at that. Anyway it was a salad, nothing to write home about.
Right now my mind set is... "Iain you've spent years eating crappy food, the least you can do is cleanse your body for 2-3 weeks!" So that's what's keeping me going,
I've decided to extend the vegetarian portion of this cleanse for another week and start juicing after that...as i feel i'm not ready for the 10 day juicing portion yet!
Yesterday I went to see Hunger games with my sister and a friend and then went to Earls after, my food that night consisted of raw almonds for the movie and guess what I had for dinner?? Yes a SALAD! Lol

Spit it out!

Today was a good day, I mean apart from sitting in class and learning about articulated boom lifts. I'd done the course last year and the Instructor recognized me (must be the unforgettable face) ;) he asked..."why you doing the course again?" I was like "beats me" lol.  still a little unsure why my office enrolled me in the course again but.getting retrained on these scissor lifts and such ain't a bad idea.
Well on to the eating, today I started off with a juice and 1.5 litres of water in the morning and at lunch got tempted with the sandwiches, cookies & pop that the office supplied but at the same time I was like "I got this!" and continued to tackle my salad.
Few people asked why I wasn't eating the free lunch...I said "do you think I got a body like this by not partaking In a few free lunches in my time??" Haha
I just explained I had sent away for a DNA test that came back positive for Gluten sensitivity, so I explained that was the reason behind the salad, water and mystery green liquid that I was drinking, which it kind of is but this week is more of a health kick. :D
Dinner consisted of Organic Vegetable Curry, which was quite delicious.
I also had my pool league night which went great won 3 out of 5 games and to be honest Nick (my partner for the night) & I should have won all 5 but hey 'you win some, you lose some!' Right?
I had made sure to swing by natures fare to grab a 16oz juice to get me through the night and everything was going well till the bartender brought a platter of Italian sausage, bread & cheese for our team.
Before I knew it I was chomping on some Italian sausage!!! Then it clicked....."what am I doing???? I'm meant to be vegetarian till the weekend hits!!!"
I actually snuck off and spat it into the Garbage just in time, lol.
I was determined to finish strong and really had just forgot, man how easy do we just shovel food into our mouths without even really thinking, it's such a habit.
Well it"s late and I better get to bed. I haven't done any food prep for tomorrow , so kinda hoping I get my ass out of bed and juice some in the morning.
Oh almost forgot, I'm going to a concert tomorrow NIN (nine inch nails) a band I used to listen to a lot back in Scotland and they're playing DT, so I'm heading down there to have dinner and then head to the concert. (Well from the texts I received today...that's the plan) work on Friday is gonna suck!

Day 2

Woke up this morning with a headache, guess this detox is finally starting to work.
I really shouldn't expect anything less, I mean in the 26 years of been on this earth how many times have I eaten this healthy??...hmmm.
Had a juice this morning that consisted of 2 apples, 2 celery sticks, 2 cucumbers, 5 pieces of Kale & 1 Lemon. Lunch was a medley of Vegetables in a salad & dinner consisted of lentil soup and i also had an apple with almond butter as a snack. Tomorrow I think I should branch out and attempt an organic vegetable curry recipe that I found on line, for dinner.
Exercise is minimal right now and not recommended for the next 15 days, though yesterday I went for a walk in the rain, was good to get out and clear my head, gather my thoughts.
Im also not looking forward to tomorrow, I'm sitting in the office for training and they're bringing in lunch so I'll be sitting eating my salad as others dig into big sandwiches, cookies & chips! :( ah who needs all that yummy stuff anyway? Right?? :D
Well I'm off to bed, goodnight.

Day 1 (238lbs)

First day down and it wasn't all that bad eating like a vegetarian, I mean don't get me wrong leave it 4 to 5 days and I'll be craving my sausages, steak and bacon but for now I'm sure it's doing my body a whole lot of Good.
Man, I've never eaten this much fruit and veg in my life.
Anyways I'll try not to make too much fun of the veg heads in case one of them is reading this.
Today's dinner consisted of my momma's home made lentil soup, didn't snack much after.
That's about it, I weighed in yesterday at 238lbs so let the work begin.

The Plan

Hello and welcome! if your reading this you've stumbled onto my blog "Big Mac 2 Small Fry".
The reason for this blog is to continually blog my adventures as I continue my weight loss Journey. All my life I've struggled with my weight and have gone through my struggles of endless diets and weight loss programs.
About a year and a half ago I reached my highest weight ever, a staggering 276lbs!!!! and no I'm not boasting about it, it was an all time low. I had low self esteem, confidence with girls was nonexistent and on top of that I was dealing with the physical and medical struggles that come with being that weight.
So around that time of hitting my peak weight I happened to have a doctors appointment for some pain and discomfort I was going through at the time due to my weight. As I explained to the doctor what the problem was he looked at me and said "look we can do surgery but its risky and usually there are complications with this sort of operation."
I looked at him and asked "we'll what other option do I have??"
He said to me "there is one other option.....get your ass off of the couch and start exercising and changing your diet!!!" He said it in an angry and forceful tone. I was shocked and sat there saying nothing....
He continued by saying "how, Iain can you expect not to not have these health problems if your lifestyle is full of bad food and a sedantary lifestyle?? I won't operate on you because your 24 and should be in the prime shape of your life but your not, your lazy. I won't operate on you because other people who have health problems can't do anything about it and they deserve my time...."
Well that was the end of that! Haha I went home and instantly got a home exercise program called P90 which I did for about 3months and with changing my diet too lost 30lbs. I then continued with P90 until I was ready for P90X. I lost 20lbs on this program and gained lots of muscle so at that time I lost a total of 48lbs.
As of today that number is at 38lbs so I've started gaining the weight back. Why you ask? I got out of the habit of working out and recently found an excuse to eat unhealthy and pretty much had the mentality of "I just don't care anymore."

Well I've had a moment of clarity and I've decided to get back into it, but before I do I got to stop with the junk food and alcohol so...I'm doing a week of raw food...basically vegetarian diet. Then after the weeks up my goal is to do a 10 day juicing cleanse! The idea came from a documentary I watched on Netflix called "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dying" it's really great and it's pretty much about this fat guy who's sick......and nearly dying, I know right?? shock! Haha, he does Jucing for 60 days to cleanse his body from all the crap and toxins he's got going on from fast food, alcohol and everything else! Well the results are amazing, so check it out.
So that's my short term plan
1 week of Raw eating (Vegetarian basically) & then 10 Days of pure Jucing.
It's gonna be hard and I'll probably hide at home in order to avoid temptation but I know I have the self control to do it...even though lack of self control is what got me into this situation in the first place! :)
So I think that's it for today. I went shopping for fruit & Veg today at a store called Natures Fare in Langley so I'll post a picture of what I bought.
Tomorrow I'll have a juice for breakfast and then salad for lunch while snacking on Nuts...dinner I'm unsure, of I'll have to check the website again.
